Why is there gay pride perades but no straight pride ones?

cause they need to make one of there own also most people are straight us gays lez and bis have a parade for support

i see straight pride wherever i go. Its gay pride that is treated like dirt under the rug. you wanna pretend like it doesnt exist but we all know it does.

We don't try to get attention for ourselves..? Idk that's all the gay prides are for really..I'm sorry it's just, it seems like all they want is to start something and make someone mad then they turn around and turn it into a hate-thing and have another parade. It just seems like they want to start something all the time.

I'm not undecided. The reason is that nobody has ever told straight people that we SHOULDN'T be proud. Gay Pride is about declaring that they have as much right to be proud of themselves as we do.

They aren't. It's just that they are the only ones who have a NEED to declare their pride, because they are the only ones who have been told that they shouldn't be proud. Nobody has ever told us (straight people) to be ashamed of being straight. So we don't need a parade, to show that we have the right to be proud. They do.

The reason for gay pride parades is obvious. If heterosexuals want to have a straight pride parade have it. I'll come and support you. :-)

Because Straight people weren't oppressed like the Gays were. This is their moment to be proud of who they are no matter the oppression.

I am sure a gay person could answer this better than I but I imagine it is mostly because they are celebrating it as a new found freedom and independence of sorts... It is about being free from the unjust tyrannical and illegal suppression of a "moral" majority social mob... And I imagine straights would be acting and doing about the same today had they been the ones physically forced to conceal their sexuality for so long.

Well if I was to be snide, I'd say it was because straights don't have anything to be prideful of.

Hold up.. Ever heard of HUMAN RIGHT parades? Every human has the right to be whatever the hell sexuality they want, it's calling uniqueness. There shouldn't be a need to have any sexuality pride parades, but unfortunately, we have a lot of ignorant people in the world.

Until everyone accepts that everyone has the right to be whatever sexuality, sadly, straights and gays will not be truly equal and the parades will be held.

I sorta figure there are major reasons people attend gay pride parades. The first is to demonstrate to the world how many people are gay and in the process try and win support of the mainstream populace that a homosexual lifestyle is not unusual. The second is for people who are gay to assemble around others who are gay in an effort to find mutual support and be part of a community of like minded folks.

For heterosexuals, neither reason makes much sense. Since the vast majority of folks are heterosexual, then there really is no reason to assemble and demonstrate how many heterosexuals there are. Also, since most folks are heterosexual, gathering together with other heterosexuals does nothing to further my own self image not does it provide any moral support.

Basically, it just doesn't fulfill any need to have a straight pride parade.

Gay pride is so often brought up, not just because they are being suppressed from the right to marry, but because there are people who do not feel proud of being gay.
These are the people who go through things like this:
Have committed suicide.
Physically harm their body (cut).
Are verbally or even physically harassed and bullied.
Have been disowned by their own family or friends.
Have been told that they are "condemned" and/or will "burn in hell".
And the list can go on forever really.
And this is simply because of having a different sexual orientation. So, until straight people have to go through things like this because of their sexual identity, there will be no straight pride rallies. You can have as much straight pride as you want, but to be honest, it will hardly count for anything as no other straights need your reassurance. Gay people show gay pride simply to show other gay people that it's OKAY to be gay. And that it should be something to be proud of rather than embarrassed about.

It makes the cause look bad? give me a break! They're celebrating, life, love and sexuality!! If someone is 'special' enough to believe all gay/bi etc people are like that, they're not going to change their views on it anyway.

its is way overboard and crosses the line from a peaceful parade to show support for an excuse to dress like freaks and perverts in public. probably cause they know other gays will be there and they cane use it as a chance for a quicky. lol.

dressing up is one thing but dressing in sex clothes and almost completely naked is a total other thing.

Not if you're at a pride parade.. They're risque and have always been. Some of us enjoy the openness of pride parades. Personally, I think people who have an issue with it shouldn't go... Nice avatar!
