Because of this:

laughter like tears is a free utterance of a persons soul.
people not able to laugh are not able to feel freely, they´re stunned.
they don´t let themselves "go" never relaxing cause if they did they would have to face
an inner conflict and it´s consequences. they are pushing aside a part of themselves
that is "hurt" or "incapacitated" these need help. if you know such a person talk to her
most of the time they truly need to cry in advance of being able to laugh again....

As someone who actually laughs on occasion I do not know. I would say that for someone like myself often things that amuse me differ from what's on TV if you would.

They probably get absorbed in negativity and it becomes a habit. I find something funny in almost everything and laugh often.. It's good exercise and is good for the soul.
