Why is Friday less traffic?

In the are where I am living here is on holidays less traffic. We assume this is less teachers and other school related traffic. This all time during school holidays.
Thats good to see.
But on Fridays is again less traffic even if there is no holidays. Any Ideas, suggestions ...?
