Why doesn't sugar ever settle after a few days when you make Kool-aid?

I've never really thought about until I was making Kool-aid this morning. It never settles such as it would it water....What the hell do they put in those packets to make that happen?!?!

    because sugar dissolves...
    forming a solution-

    not a suspension-

Sugar molecules bind to the flavoring in the kool-aid. Both the flavoring and the dies are engineered to be chemically 'attractive' to sugar while remaining in solution in what amounts, roughly, to a covalent bond. The dies and flavoring bond to the water and to the sugar, thus locking them in 'perfect harmony.' :-)
