I sometimes do this,I will not lie,but when my friends and I do pretend,we are very well aware of reality. We love the idea of a creature of/in the dark that feeds off of blood,not only that,but the darkness itself attracts our attention.We find them very romantic,very deep,that's the kind of people we are.So really,I guess we do it for fun,but also because we love that idea or ideal you could say.

They like the sense of evil or mysterious "presence" they see or read about in various media and feel that they convey the same in real life when they really seem a little off. Which by a funny coincidence makes people react differently and respond in a cautious way which the delusional vampire type interprets as deference to their "vampireness" which makes the person playing dress up get the response they desire.
