Why do so many liberals resent stay at home moms?

I think the people who are responding "none of the above" mean that they are liberal and don't resent them.
The unfortunate truth is that we have seen the disdain with which homemakers are treated by both the leftist media and by feminists far too clearly to deny this sentiment.
I stayed home for two years each when my children were born. The eye rolling smirkfest I was treated to whenever any of the "career girls" asked me what I was doing would have been offensive were it not so pathetic and sad.
It's almost like they equate the desire to do so with weakness.

I was a stay at home mom. I am, always have been and always will be a liberal. Sadly, being a stay at home mom isn't an option for most women today. Even if economics isn't an issue, conservative men get bored with their stay at home wives pretty quickly. Most liberals don't hate stay at home moms.

When the question gives 4 choices, all of which say "I agree with the premis" you gotta expect a few blanket statements in response.

Where is the "NUN OF THE ABOVE"? I'm a liberal and I DON'T like any of those choices. I think any couple who is smart enough to make the choice to raise their own kids is wonderful. To me there is no substitute for a stay at home Mom.

None of the above. I don't know any liberals that resent stay at home moms.

They do however resent men telling them that in order to be a good mother they must stay at home.

And yes, I am liberal, and I'm a stay at home mom.

I was too, Mel. Actually, I worked at home. Being a single Mom I had to do something to hold the family together. I didn't get food stamps or get any funds other than child support from a very, very ill man. I stayed at home because I thought it was best, and because i found a way to pull it together without someone else taking care of my child (something VERY important to me). Why would I resent anyone else that stays home for their kids?

Actually, it's "None of the above" because they're not resented at all.

What we resent are 1%'ers whose 5 kids are raised by 5 nannies and each of their 6 houses have 3 housekeepers and a butler, but they still piss and moan about what a hard job it is 'staying home to raise the kids'.

Although many seem very passionate that women should have a choice but then turn around and act very superior to SAHM's ...and spend a lot of energy putting them down questioning their IQs.

It would be nice if women, and men for that matter, would just deal with their own problems. Not everyone is cut out for being a stay at home parent...not everyone is cut out to be a working parent....some that would love to stay home can not afford too...and vice versa.

I myself loved working but I want to be there ...(FOR ME) I realised I could not be super mama. I could not work an 8 hour shift, cook dinner and lunches, clean, do laundry, run erronds and stay up with my kids if they needed it. I can not enjoy my life, my family or my work ...with everything going in all directions.
SO I focus myself on the people that matter the most to me....on what I feel the most reward from...being a mama.

I have found some resent that ....like libernazi types that resent that I truly enjoy being a wife, a mother, a woman and I feel no need to be driven. They push hard for women to BE men in their work, in their family, and tend to have that better then thou attitude....mocking...passive aggresive.
Equality does NOT mean you deny who you are or try to change into something you are not but accept your femininity and be the best woman you can be. Women are inherintly different then men because we are two halfs to the whole.

true it just shouldnt be so slanted i mean its ok to feel the opposite way than i do. That doesnt make you an idiot. According to this chick you are an idiot for disagreeing with her. All of her questions are slanted to where you either agree with her or you are as dumb as a sack of hammers.

ok i just took the time to read her posts ,because i don't know her at all , im not implying that i know her know ,but it is my observation she is really defensive and doesn't like to "discuss" with opposite thinking people , instead she gets aggressive , although she seems intelligent , I agree with u on your last point :) any question should not be " all liberals " "all media " because it simply cant be true :)

In my own personal experience I noticed that people here in San Francisco Bay Area often look down upon stay home-at-mothers, especially if they look like they're of European descent, or married to a man who looks it. I remember when I was little and even now days, several people spoke to my mother and treated her like she was an idiot. It would always come as a shock to them when she would answer with a very witty and sarcastic remark.

I think another thing is that some liberals may associate stay-at-home mothers with a form of sexism and may have trouble grasping the idea that there are women who don't mind staying in the home or perhaps even want to stay there.
