I believe that alcohol in moderation is probably good for you. The bible belt has a higher death rate from heart attacks and strokes and the reason I believe was attributed to lack of booze.
one beer a day or red wine is great for your heart plus it's delicious and in the words of Benjamin Franklin "beer is proof that there is a God and that he wants us to be happy"
I didn't say it Ben Franklin said it take it up with him. Alcohol only causes negative effects if you don't consume in moderation the same damn thing can be said for salt, french fries, or even water.
you absoulutely can die from drinking too much water look it up. One radio station had a contest when the wii came out to see who could drink the most water and the winner died. If you drink too much water it throws off your body's natural chemistry and you die. Alot of ravers who take ecstasy die from water intoxication because the natural reflex that tells us to stop drinking water is inhibitted.
That's my point that just about anything in this world can be deadly in excess. I agree that alcohol is a poison but it is also useful and medicinal even in moderation.
To relax mainly,I always have 1 drink before bed to get extra sleepy. I rarely drink enough to be drunk, unless its a party where everyone else is- I cant stand being sober around drunk people!
Personally, I enjoy it, and in moderation, there are actually a number of health benefits. I tend to have 1-2 beers per day (1 with lunch, 1 with dinner). Moderate regular alcohol intake actually is good for the cardiovascular system. Mostly though, I just love the flavor and feeling of a good beer. Alcohol is also a social equalizer. Inviting someone to drink with you is a way of saying "I do not see you is greater or lesser, richer or poorer, but as someone worthy of sharing a drink with."
The problem is when people binge and abuse it. Getting drunk is very different than enjoying a round or two. Everyone's limit is different. Some people drink to get blitzed as fast as possible. Some people are so dependent on alcohol that they literally can not operate without it.
There's nothing wrong with not ever having a drink. If that's the life you choose, then I wish you godspeed. You're avoiding potential danger, but... many people drink every day and most people who drink do not have any problems with it. Like anything in life, moderation is the key.
I rarely drink, but the few times that I do, I do it for the same reason I do most of the stupid shyt I do; to exchange reality for fantasy, to be numb (or to feel), to relax, etc.
It's not for social attention for me because, like all the rest of it, I'm generally alone when I do anything. Yes, the effect that I seek from it is worth "poisoning" myself momentarily. I could die just from breathing the air, doesn't mean I shouldn't breathe. :p
Sometimes it is relaxing to kick back and enjoy a few drinks, other times it's fun to have a few with friends. Many people don't like to and I respect that, I would ask them to do the same for those of us who do enjoy an adult beverage from time to time.
some people have problems that are even sadder. At least when they are drunk it takes their mind off of their own personal demons, whatever those may be.
because i don't drink and i think
the same like you think...:\\
Why do people drink alcohol?? :||
