I know plenty of emo people that don't cut themselves and some kids cut themselves but they aren't emo so people need to calm down and look at the background story before they judge someone

I do not see much sense in the answers.
As far as I can say, emo has been deviated from emotional. Emotion (from ex, i.e. out and motio, i.e. motion, move) is a psychological process or reaction generated by conscient or inconscient awareness of an object or a situation. The subsequent interpretation of objects or facts is considered as feeling.
Emotional people are more sensitive when confronted with situations or objects which are surprising, new, unexpected, negative or frightening them and will have, thus, stronger reactions.All normal people are more or less emotional.

The "Emo" label has that self harm negative connotation that goes along with it, I guess it's just what's expected from that stereotype. People are prejudice at times.

I met a cheer leader who cuts herself, meaning "emo" people don't slit their wrist for the hell of it. If someone cuts i'm pretty sure it's cuase physical pain heals, mental pain hurts far more.

I have known people that cut themselves who are not emos and i wouldn't link the two.
Also I don't think people being unhappy is at all related to their interest in music

not quite sure exactly what u meen.....I know that when I was in my 20's, I would cut myself a bit. I felt as if things in my life were spinning out of control.... I thank god I
feel better and a lot more settled and secure and don't cut for years now.

Not all emos cut themselves and not all people who cut themselves are emo. As a matter of fact, the term emo and what it represents as a label for another human being, didn't even exist until recent history and people have been cutting themselves ritualistically and for other reasons for a long, long time. As a former cutter myself, since I was a teen and through most of my adult life, I can tell you that "emos" feel the pulse of the world all of the time. It gets very overwhelming when you're constantly bombarded with negative energy. Emos hear the earth crying and it makes them sad and they don't even know why and those around them don't understand it either. Emos are usually very empathetic people. They are usually very creative and are usually interested in things weird and strange and are capable of thinking outside the box. Society for the most part considers them outcasts and a lot of them have been put on strong anti-depressants and anti-psychotic medications so that ignorant people don't have to deal with them.
