Because humans need illusions; 'stars' are called as such because their talent or beauty is supposed to make them seem bigger, brighter and more elevated than everyone else.
The problem therein is that the masses often seem to forget that its JUST an illusion, with real people who have flaws behind the facade.
Why do people put celebrities on Pedestals?

I wondered this after looking at the Amanda Bynes DUI post, I mean, she's nice, but she's not perfect, she's no angel, and upon learning of her arrest, people are all shocked and bewildered and say things like "I just lost respect for her" and "she's such an angel, I can't believe she did this!"
Why not?--after all, she may be rich and famous, but she's still only HUMAN, just as flawed and imperfect as the rest of us, so why are you so surprised?

Its a 'love-hate relationship'. The masses 'love' you while you're on top; but the minute you start to teeter they are the first ones rooting for you to fall, because they were also secretly jealous of you the whole time.
Its pretty sick, when you think about it...
I have my favorite musicians, but I in no way think they are above me.
While I do enjoy their movies on occasion, they should be kissing the fans collectively asses, not the other way around.
