Why do people only vote on a question that obviously needs an opinion following the vote??

They want to register their opinion but can't always be bothered to get into a tedious 'fight to the death' situation with those who are predictably going to get very upset with the 'answer' given! And we ALL know exactly what SORT of questions invariably engender those type of usually hysterical responses, don't we!!

Idk, it's weird though, recently I went to a question with 10 undecided votes and only one comment. Seriously, what a waste of time for the people who went there, couldn't even put enough thought in to pick a side, and then left again :/

When somebody else says what I would've said, me saying it again is redundant.

sometimes the answer is a "cut and dry" one. heh

I think there could be a couple of reason... such as they don't won't to get a reply.

There are certain subjects that I avoid just because I know some troll or jerk will come looking for a fight on... which happens a lot with politics on SH (both sides have trolls and jerk that just attack at times, because they don't like someone opinion.)

Or because they read the question and wanted to vote while they're there but didn't want to explain or write out a lot if it's a tricky question to answer.

Also SH has that quick vote thing where you see the questions and don't have a spot to put a answer... just to vote.

some just want the points to voting.

And I just wrote this long bit and tried to send it... and it told me I broke the internet (aka SH had a problem) and so I hit the back button... and it wasn't there... and I was thinking I wouldn't write it all again. But decided to try hitting the refresh button to see if the text would pop back up and lucky it did. And not get to see if it will let me send it this time.

I have done this. I liked the question and wanted to respond immediately. Then I'd look at the answers and none of them fit so I wouldn't want to commit to them.

Also, I have done this when I SodaHead is acting a little funky and I simply am unable to respond. I just move on and forget about it.

A vote is a vote though -- should be glad someone even bothered.

True, but not if you get very specific answers chosen for you. I'd dare say that that individual isn't really interested in your opinion since they have put out answers they have designed. I see this a lot in political questions . . . No, all liberals are crazy or vice versa. On the surface it seems like a good question , then you look at the answers and wish you never bothered. Especially when there is no "None of the above" option. Just me though.

If you expect them to answer in a way that has nothing to do with the vote, then don't give them the option to vote in the first place. A good question that provides a poll will provide decent enough answers within the poll that don't need further explanation.

...but you left me an opinion and chose the no opinion choice..

I like to be confusing like that O.o
