    Because:

    a) Most other presidents and presidential candidates in recent history have revealed theirs.

    b) There are numerous people at Columbia -- who were in the same major during the same years, and who would have been in the same classes -- who don't even remember Obama.

    c) It would be revealing to learn how a boy of such economically modest background could manage to get into one pricey private college (Occidental), transfer to an even pricier private college (Columbia), and then attend law school at an uber-pricey private college (Harvard).

    d) He could very well be hiding the possible fact that he was a foreign student -- which would quite possibly put the entire eligibility of his presidency in jeopardy.

By the way, there is no such thing as a "magna cum laude degree," which you put in one of your answer choices.

There's an associate's degree, a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, and so on. "Magna cum laude" isn't a type of degree. It only indicates that one has graduated with a certain high GPA.

Because Democrats try every way to get the conversation off the disaster of an administration we have right now (rehabbing Bush is almost impossible but these guys make it look easy) and as incompetent of a president as he has been, the grades must have been "fixed." A groomed charismatic candidate emerged.

so he graduated magna cum lauda years before he got into politics, and they knew it?

I think you miss the point, but that's okay, I didn't make it very good. We want to know how many times any person opposed to him changed their diapers, but his academic records are off limits...the media has never and will never vet him. Someone sneezes in opposition to him, massive vetting campaign. Lives ruined, but no vetting for the man who sought out the big chair. I just find his secrecy amusingly childish. Open-ness ends the comments...unless they hide something. It's a lot like the tax records for Romney. Reid and everyone else with half a brain knows there is really nothing to find in those tax records. He followed the law and got the breaks the law entitled him to. Do I agree with the tax code in that regard? Not particularly, I prefer consumption and luxury taxes, but he took what the law allowed. Unlike, I might add, a number of administration officials that seemed to think paying taxes was beneath them. See the real tax story is Reid's land holdings in Nevada, or administration officials including the attorney general not paying taxes. But there is no openness from the administration on big things so we figure "hey, let's see if he can handle something easy." And still he bungles it.

if a university tells you (as they have) that they don't reveal transcripts for ANYOnE, you think Obama hid his? Why would anyone who graduated at the top of his class hide anything?

That's a good question isn't it? Why does he hide his records or anything for that matter? Magna Cum Laude with what electives that could be embarrassing? The school isn't really the issue, it's the one who wants to sit in the big chair. You have heard Harry Truman's thoughts on the issue of that chair President Obama admits he sought right? Well President Bush's grade point and records are well-known. The media dug those up fast. Why not President Obama? Can't be privacy, after all he chose the spotlight that ended his private life for good willingly.

not obscure at all- it is about PRINCIPLES

Obama campaigned on being transparent, and that includes releasing the same records that he insists other candidates release.

But I admit, I would like to know how he paid for these schools, considering he was supposedly broke growing up (despite his fathers millions of $$$). Also would like to see if he entered any of the schools as a foreign exchange student

Also find it odd that no one remembers him ever being in class at Columbia, If there are only 250 poli sci majors, they should all pretty well know each other to some degree

what about scholarships? He graduated magna cum laude. He was supersmart that's why.
The BS about a foreign student was claimed when he was at freshmen and sophomore level.
He was alleged to have asked for a Fulbright Scholarship. This has already been debunked.
Guess why. Fullbrights are only for Masters and Doctorates. He wasn't at that level, so a fullbright wouldn't have been used. Factcheck.org already investigated this years ago and proved it was fake. Don't you research?

The BS about a foreign student was claimed when he was at freshmen and sophomore level-

But the problem with being a foreign student is that it means he was no longer an American citizen0 and if that is the case, he would not be Constitutionally eligible to be president.

That is why this is important0 did he ever relinquish his American citizenship- and if he did so to qualify as a foreign exchange student, that says a lot about his character also, and shows how little regard he has for this nation

If there isn't anything there, whats the big deal?

Your side claims he is "brilliant", lets see....

I think getting to editor of the Harvard Law Review shows some brilliance. There are also testimonies from tutors claiming he was brilliant. Perhaps you haven't taken the time to look them up. Magna cum laude is not something that most students attain.

Ok we get it..he's brilliant(lol) Then why doesn't he just produce his college grades, or for that matter his grades while in High School.

this is already debunked. There are claims he was on a fullbright scholarship. This when he was a freshman/sophomore. Problem is Fullbrights are only for Masters and Doctorates. Factcheck.org already pointed this out. Some listened... some wouldn't listen.

oh that was at Columbia. He was in the early days then. It is claimed he was there on a Fulbright scholarship. Problem is, Fulbright scholarships are only for Doctorates and Masters. He wasn't taking them at that age, so there would be no Fulbright.

The same reason some folks want Romney to release more of his tax records; For political reasons, to see if they can use any of the information against him.

can you use magna cum laude against someone though?

They may think that there might be something to hide, since he won't release it. Just like with Romney's tax records, even if there is nothing to hide and they aren't released, it looks bad.

Some may think there is something related to citizenship in Obama's college records.
