People don't bugger off with the doors in their pockets. Nothing is more annoying than getting to the counter at the bank and realising that some rotten mongrel has pinched all the pens!

Because people tend to steal them more often than they try to steal money and it's too expensive to prosecute someone for a stolen pen. Plus, they'd have to be constantly looking for a pen.

You can't stuff a bank in your pocket as easily as you can a pen.

To let in their clients and the purpose is writing statements, signing cheques among others and then you move out through those open doors rather than sitting there

The one I go to their pens are thick and heavy; prolly cost them a "mint" to have there.
I used one once and the thing WAS heavy for a pen. Ha, they want to protect their "investments", don't they????

even pens at home disappear. they must be chained so they don't escape to the place my home pens go to. people have nothing to do with it.

because the pens would be too easily to take, even if you don't realize that you are doing it, putting it in your purse, and then later on wonder where the hell you got that pen from, banks won't put money out on the counter for you to accidently take, too bad too, ha ha ha

Running out of pens costs banks money as customers can't sign checks or documents if there are no pens. In the past, you couldn't just go out and buy a box of cheap pens and even if you could, you could lose every single one on an average day if you just kept handing out pens to everyone who walked in the door.

The pens you see chained to the counter also tend to be a higher quality pen that's guaranteed to write every time until it's almost out of ink where the cheaper pens you often have to buy a pack just to find one that will write more than a few times before the tip clogs or it just stops writing.

Most pens you find chained to the counter cost a lot more as I actually have one that I bought direct from the supplier and it cost me $29.78... but it's never failed to write and refills cost about as much as a pack of cheap pens so it's a much better buy but it's not something you're going to want to replace every day because peeps keep walking out the door with them.

The banks want you to deposit everything, but withdraw nothing! We need a 21st century Jesse James to teach the banks a lesson (I am talking about the Jesse James who died in 1882, and not the one who broke the heart of Sandra Bullock)!

Actually, The CHASE branch closest to where I work has access controlled doors a person goes inside and must wait for the outer door to close before you can open the inner door. and if an alarm is set off all the doors auto lock! if the place blows up , your all f*cked! just one more reason I will have nothing to do with CHASE.
