Why did Ronald Reagen never win a Nobel Peace Prize?

I am just wondering; why did Ronald Reagen never win a Nobel Peace prize? My father is 67 and has told me that Ronald Reagen was the greatest President in 50 years..I have done much research on him and I agree. Reagen believed in " Peace Through Strength" He caused the Soviets to back down thus ending the Cold War..My dad told me that the liberal news media called him a dunce and a cowboy that was going to cause World War 3! He built our military up to its strongest levels ever and the Soviets back downed..He told Gorbachev to " Tear Down This Wall". Guess what, Gorbachev did, thus ending the Cold War..Why did Ronald Reagen never get a Nobel Peace Prize? wall guess gorbachev cold war ronald reagen nobel peace prize wall guess gorbachev cold war ronald reagen nobel peace prize wall guess gorbachev cold war ronald reagen nobel peace prize

One minor disagreement with your father Rock.

    No disrespect intended.

Ronald Wilson Reagan was the Absolute best president the nations had since the founding fathers.
I tip my hat to the founders because they forged the greatest nation ever devised. Other than that NO other president measures up to Reagan.

I met Reagan twice in my life once when I was a 10 year old boy in California. He was governor and I was on a school field trip.
The second time he was out of office and my detachment was doing some NSA work on the Reagan Ranch in 1989.

I was impressed with him both times. Here's the deal.

Reagan Always made it a point to take time and 'Connect' with those around him. Wether it was a class of 10 year old school kids, or the troops He respected. Therefore EARNING the respect of those troops.

God bless him and hold him close.
    Fair winds Mr PRESIDENT.

Because It wasn't Reagen who ended the cold war it was Gorbachev,( or if you want to say, they both were a factor) he was the youngest in the part that was born after the Russian Revolution. He dismantled the system his party spent 70 years creating.

The Nobel prize committee in Oslo did not quite put it that way. It cited Mr Gorbachev for "his leading role in the peace process" which today characterises parts of the world.

"During the last few years, dramatic changes have taken place in the relationship between East and West. Confrontation has been replaced by negotiations. Old European nations have regained their freedom," the citation read. "The arms race is slowing down and we see a definite and active process in the direction of arms control and disarmament. The United Nations is beginning to play the role which was originally planned for it."
I think it was during the Reagen years, our National debt began. Clinton made a dent in the national debt and Clinton paid off most of the $1 Trillion WWII debt that Reagan scared us with to get elected. Economical wise Clinton was good. After that our National debt increased so much.

Yea, whatever you say! Reagen had to deal with all the crap that LBJ, Nixon, Carter and Ford left us! Say what you will but Reagen believed in Peace Through Strength and he was the man..

Lol, I'm sorry, but don't take my dialogged out of context I'm not saying he was 'horrible', I'm just answering your question to why Ronald Reagan never received the noble peace prize. You can say he had to put up with the rest of the former presidents 'crap', but we're still dealing with the national debt that started around the Reagan years and dramatically increased when Bush (Jr.), was in office.

Who's to say he wasn't nominated? These things are supposed to be kept a secret within the nomination committee... At least until this year, when they actually had to attempt to justify why they awarded somebody with one.

Because he was not a progressive liberal that dreamed of real peace, he actually did the work for real peace to happen.

Simple - he was a conservative.

I don't think he would have accepted it anyway.

Reagan was an awesome president. But the Nobel Peace prize isn't worthy or Reagan. It has been butchered & is not worth what it once was. It started out good, but ended up corrupted, just like everything else man controls.

bama is trying to destroy Ronnie's legacy. No one can tear him down. But they are trying.
Sad how the left has become.
President Reagan should have gotten the Prize, but they stopped short because of his theory on peace thru power.
Too bad. He deserved it way more than bama.

The progressive liberals that govern the Nobel Prize hated Reagan more than they hated G. W. Bush.
