i was just thinking about it. I know that having an open liquor container is illegal & you can get a ticker & arrested... than why is it ok for you to drink in the back of a limousine? do they have immunity? im just curious... & i mean why can't passengers drink inside of a normal car... even if the driver isn't drinking..

Seems pretty obvious. The limo driver is separated from the inevitable drinking a fornicating that WILL happen in a sweet ass limo. It would be even cooler to have a specially secured Semi with a bar in the back. It would be called a Semimousine. (Semimousine.©)

in some states, it's legal to have an open container as long as the driver is not drinking. I got pulled over in TN while DDing my friends home, two of them had open beers and were drinking. the officer gave me a breath test and when he saw my BAC was 0.0, he let us go scott free.

    It's simple...and it's not because there is a partition!
If you have a chauffeur's license and as long as the alchol is not with reach of the driver. In most states it you simply have to take a test and show the proper insurance. Always check your local laws.

Good to know thanks... i was ALWAYS curious of that fact

It is partially due to the partition.

The partition cutting the driver from the back and the fact the driver has to have a commercial license.
Now don't think you can just go out and get a CDL and then drive you car with the people in the back drinking, it does not make it legal.

Well its just a guess kind of but in a car theres a open area and its not seperating the drivers area from the back so the driver has an easy temptation but in a lino its closed off so the driver doesnt have that same temptation

Because in the back of a limo you are being chauffeured, and are closed off from the driver. Plus, if people see this question and decide it shouldn't be legal to drink in the back of a limo, I'll have to blame you.

its not so true because even if you are not driving in a car but you are drinking it is still illigal that is the reason this question is made and it makes you think.

there is this guy in the news who was driving drunk, and he got pulled over, so what he did, he locked himself inside the car, with the cops outside, and sat on the passenger's side, and chugged all the remaining beers while the cop is right outside his window.
  • kato rejimaru 2010/04/06 12:56:38

lol!! that is funny, but i understand i mean might as well do it they are taking you to jail anyways. not to mention that the fine still going to be the same so why waste a good beer on the floor because that is what most cops do take you beer away and spill it on the floor.

It's called pandering to the wealthy through special interest laws. If you own a limousine or can afford to pay for one, then you're considered superior to the masses and are given special privileges.
