Teenagers go through a stage where they know everything and disagreeing with them sends them into a catharsis (a more sophisticated temper tantrum).
Some people get stuck in that stage.

Liberals suspect, often unconsciously at first, that they are being used to further inane and/or idiotic ideologies. However, by the time they truly begin to understand the scope of the con they have become an intricate part of, they have said and done so many stupid and incriminating things, that backing-out only confirms what everyone else already knows, or suspects, about them, to wit: that they are an ignorant, arrogant, fear-based, hypocrites.
Their fear of this blow is so mindbogglingly severe, most liberal's delicate psyche's simply could not withstand the trauma. Thus, liberalism becomes a self-perpetuating activity and lifestyle most closely comparable to the activities and lifestyles of those addicted to drugs and alcohol.
The good news is that many liberals do recover, if they have the capacity to be honest. Given sufficient time and intense education, particularly including the disentanglement from "liberal only" intellectual stimulation, many liberals have been known to grow consciences, begin to think for themselves and before they speak, and eventually even interact with people who have a variety of ideas and interests; people who place a premium on personal freedom within the confines of a decent society.
It is at this point that former liberals are finally able to carry on meaningful conversations with all members of society without being rude, insulting, and ignorant, even when they don't agree one hundred percent (100%) with the ideas of their fellow human beings.

I have an interest in education and the teachers in this forum, both liberal and conservative are very helpful to me. Sometimes others may have a "house" problem and with 20+ years of construction experience I can often help them.

Keeping the bag between half and full, you take a breath out the right side of your mouth and blow it in through the left side gently letting your arm up so the bag can re-inflate while still keeping enough arm pressure on the bag to push air through the drones and chanter. Repeat the process as long as it takes.

Yes, there are some liberals on here which I find it hard to get along with. For the msot part, they are also the same ones who are so difficult to get along with that even other liberals don't like them.
There are some liberals on here who are quite polite and respectful to me and I am polite and respectful to them as well.
I can't speak for those who are always or nearly always obnoxious but with most others it is a matter of mutual respect which goes both ways. We do not have to agree on everything but we can do so in a manner which keeps the door open to future discussions.
Just today, Senator Harry Reid said that it was "disgraceful" that the United States Olympic Team is going to London in uniforms made in China. While I disagree with Mr. Reid more often than not, in this issue I'm in complete agreement with him. Maybe I ought to mark the day on the calendar.
It is really quite simple;
Just show the respect you would like to get back and more often than not it comes back to you.
And how do I know this? I used to be a lib-flavored statist.
