Why are Beauty Pageants Bad?

Some people feel beauty pageants are bad because the objectify girls and women. People should not be judged on their weight and looks, but on their personality and kindness. Beauty pageant contestants spend a lot of money on fake hair, body parts, nails, makeup, and tans just to appeal to a judge. It is better to just be yourself and be happy with who you are.

- Terry 2011/11/12 19:08:57+1I wouldn't say that Beauty Pageants are 'bad', per se, but it is rather sad people are judged more for what they are like on the 'outside' rather than what is really important-that which is in the INSIDE. 'Looks' truly are only 'skin-deep', but I guess that's the way the world is and no amount of 'railing' against it will alter it in the slightest.

I would if I was beautiful enough. It's the Toddlers & Tiaras type of pagents that are disgusting, parading little toddlers around in sexy outfits just so a washed-up mum can relive her youth! :/reply
