Racial bias in the justice system and poverty. The poor are much more likely to be incarcerated.

In 2000, over 60 percent of welfare was made of whites. Yet, nobody was complaining it ruined them.

According to the 2000 Census, it's very true. Yet, nobody was complaining that it was ruining the white community.

I watched it happen to since I was in High School. We just had a 50 year reunion and that was one of was one of the popular topics.

Ummm... I'm still waiting for you to prove that the Census Bureau of 2000 had it all wrong when it claimed that over 60 percent of those on Welfare where white.

I'm not sure how the polemics that occurred during your reunion carry any weight in this discussion. But, to cut you off, before you get ahead of yourself, could you stick to the discussion at hand?

There's no way you "watched it happen" as you don't have an eye on the American underclass.

Yet, you don't have any proof? OK. Thanks, for playing. It's a known fact all over. I've tried finding anything discounting that and I couldn't. You seem to think you know otherwise, but you don't have any facts to back that up.

If you can't agree that in 2000 the overwhelming majority of people on Welfare were white, we really can't continue to discuss the issue. You have a failure to accept reality.

Sorry, but you can now go back to your meds.

You can't possibly "see" the entirety of the effect of Welfare on a national community by what happened to those that went to high school with you. I think you're off your rocker.

I'm sorry, but I use factual data. You are overwhelmed by anecdotal evidence and therefore I concede to the fact we can't meet at a common ground.

There's nothing more to talk about, here. Your trolling is over.

Yes, I'm sure you've "seen it all" enough to talk about it from your personal perspective, trumping actual data retrieved by the government.

    I'll stick to facts. Thanks.

The CENSUS BUREAU of 2000 is questionable? If you actually read it, it will tell you that 225 thousand people living below the poverty level were WHITE, while 35 thousand were black. Those numbers don't change much, either, from 2000 to 2008, so I'm not all of a sudden going to believe that the number more than doubles for blacks and lessens by more than half for whites in what? FOUR YEARS? Come on. It doesn't make any sense.

What's so hard to get about that?

If anything, since 1959 to 2000, the poverty rate among blacks FELL from 55 percent to 22.1 percent in 2000. Yet, I'm sure that's because the government was trying to enslave them, right??

You just don't have the numbers in your favor and don't have the basic ability to check the Census numbers yourself.

    Too bad.

So, you knock government numbers and replace them with what exactly?

What you, and your friends, have personally seen??

If you can't except that the Census collects accurate data, you'd have to point me to more accurate data that you have available. You've neglected to do that.

What other government numbers do you have at your disposal to refute the numbers I've posted?

    NONE.

If you can't find evidence by any other government agency to refute the numbers I've posted, you're at a loss to provide a cogent argument to deny the claims I make.

and, as of yet, you still haven't posted any other data from anywhere else to dispute the claims I've made.

What other data are you living your life by if not by that collected by government organizations? What other industries collect such data and are more trustworthy?

    Post some examples.

You've got nothing and now you're trying to dispute my sources, but you've got no sources of your own with other information.

    Thanks, for playing.

    Political spin?

You've got nothing to prove that assertion and you've still offered up nothing in ways of contrary evidence, nor have you shown any group that you think is more trustworthy to report upon the demographics of America's poor.

You've come into this debate without a single fact in your arsenal. Sad, but true.

You're out of your league. Regroup and try again.

negative stereotyping by the police and being too poor to afford a good lawyer for some. And yes, some of it is racism, because statistically, this doesn't make sense. For some of our brothers, that life is all they know. We need our fathers to guide our young men. this is ridiculous

Is it "negative stereotyping" when victims, mostly black describe their assailant as black? If the police get a description of the perp as a young black male should they go after Asian grannies or gingers?

I agree with you about the need for fathers. The African American family unit used to be a very strong force. LBJ's "War on Poverty" changed all that by making it more desirable for the man to be out of the house.

First of all, I said for SOME. What I'm talking about is a black man getting pulled over by a policeman of a different race when he's done nothing wrong. Are you telling me you've never heard of police stereotyping before?
  • fuzzy K... Candace... 2012/08/01 13:14:31
fuzzy Ken "In G-d We Trust"
Oh. You're talking about the the old "pulled over for DWB"?
According to Heather MacDonald's book "Are Cops Racist?" the claim that police officers pull black drivers over because they are black, is not supported by empirical evidence.
In other words, there is only anecdotal evidence.
Of those, how many lead to an arrest, conviction and incarceration?

Why not focus on the FACT that most victims are people of color and their assailant is as well? I think that has more to do with the prison population.
