SLIDESHOW: Who's Your Favorite Lady Comic?

Chelsea Handler
9 of 9

Chelsea Handler

Chelsea is the host of her own late night talk show "Chelsea Lately," and the author of a bestselling book of essays, "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea."
  1. Margaret Cho

    Margaret Cho

Pure sass! "I look at husbands the same way I look at tattoos. I want one but I can’t decide what I want and I don’t want to be stuck with one I’m just going to grow to hate and have to have surgically removed."

  2. Sarah Silverman

    Sarah Silverman

A brilliant comedian and star of "The Sarah Silverman Program." Here's a one liner, "I don’t care if you think I’m racist as long as you think I’m a thin racist. "

  3. Wanda Sykes

    Wanda Sykes

Wanda is just funny in anything she does. I loved when she was on the show "Curb Your Enthusiasm," where she played a sassy friend of Larry David. No matter what he did, she always accused him of being racist.

  4. Maria Bamford

    Maria Bamford

A lesser known female comic, Maria specializes in "indie comedy." Here's a one liner, "I’ve never really thought of myself as depressed as much as paralyzed by hope."

  5. Ellen DeGeneres

    Ellen DeGeneres

Brilliant comic! Here's a one liner, "My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She’s ninety-seven now, and we don’t know where the hell she is."

  6. Janeane Garofalo

    Janeane Garofalo

She rocked the 90's. Here's a one liner, "My hell is going to be the stairmaster wing of Dante’s inferno, where they’re gonna tape my feet to the pedals and the only music I get is Michael Bolton karaoke style."

  7. Whoopi Goldberg

    Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi is one of the most accomplished comediennes listed here. In addition to her stand-up, she's a great actress and improv comic.

  8. Lucille Ball

    Lucille Ball

I used to love staying up late and watching reruns of "I Love Lucy." Even though the show was old and dated, I still thought it was hilarious.

  9. Chelsea Handler

It's surprising really, but female comedians aren't as plentiful as male comedians. Well, in support of lady comics everywhere, I've put together some of the funniest in this slideshow. I've added little descriptions about who they are and some of their best one-liners. Scroll through and let me know who's your favorite.

My favorite comic is Sarah Palin because everything she does is a joke.

I like Margret Cho but also the girl who makes fun of the nail salons. I don't remember her name right now.

I like Phyllis Stiller and Whoopi Goldberg and a bunch of others, but from the choices given here I'd pick Margret Cho hands down! Although most of the others are good, I've seen Ellen degenerate several times and I didn't know she was supposed to be funny! But then it's also hard to prove that with David Letterman and they pay him as a comic!
