Dolly Parton

The selections reveal an ageist slant. The undisputed Queen of Country Music was Kitty Wells, and she remained so until her death in 2012. The person most fitting to assume the title in the wake of Kitty's death would have to be Dolly Parton. As sucessful as the current crop of country starlets remain, Dolly Parton has had a career spanning some fifty years (thus far), has had a record 25 number-one country singles, 113 charting singles, 78 albums on the country charts (42 of which reached the top-ten), and has more or less invented the role of female country superstar, and she certainly has influenced nearly every female singer to have emerged during the last thirty years. The only other person who could perhaps be a contender for the title would be Dolly's fellow pioneer Loretta Lynn.

There shouldn't a competion among people's favorites, but, if you are limited to one "Queen", it has to be Kitty Wells. I am 69 years old and understnd that younger Country Music female singers have appealed to younger fans. If I picked a "King", I'd vote for Hank Williams (senior !). Kitty Wells is and always will be the TRUE Queen of Country Music. She made country become great and famous. She broke the wall and paved the way for contry female singers who came after her in 60's such as the legendary Patsy Cline(another great singer who inspired a number if country singers), Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and futher inspired a long list of female singers. Reba herself always said that the true queen of country is "absolutely Kitty Wells." And Carrie Underwood doesn't even come close to all these great artists

Reba! No doubt about that lol. Kitty Wells may have started it. But Reba Rocks country music. Carrie may be young and energetic but she's still pretty new. Crown her the princess maybe, but queen, no. Reba has earned that tittle with how long she's been w/ country music, how much she's succeeded at, how much she has given, how many lives she's changed, and for SO many other reasons. She is a true work of perfection. There is no one like Reba and there never will be.

Kitty Wells, she started it all, she's the queen. Reba is most surely not queen, she don't even sing real country. Kitty Wells, Tanya Tucker, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and June Carter are real country music.

REBA barely accepts the title of queen herself because she feels Dolly & Loretta deserves it more. That is why she SHOULD get this title. She is not only talented beyond compare, she is humble too! Little girls should get in line for this throne behind Reba....... WAY behind Reba!

Yes Carrie Underwood is great....But she is not a legend like Reba!! Maybe if she is still known 20 years from now she will be too! But let me remind you...Carrie got popular from a TV SHOW!!!! Reba worked her country butt off just to be heard! She also layed the way for artist today (As well as Dolly, Barbara, Loretta, Tammy). So ya Carrie several good songs/hits, but thats it. Reba has worked hard, helped others, expanded fro music

Reba has worked hard, helped others, expanded from music (Broadway, TV, books, and movies) and put an inspirational message in all of her songs. Im not dogging Carrie Underwood by any means, i love her myself! But when it comes to queen....Reba's got this one.

to keep her as the Queen. Carrie Underwood does not deserve to be the Queen. CMT and GAC
plays her way to much. They play Carrie every hour and they do not play Reb's video's enough.
They only play Reba's once a day and that is not fair.

reba is the true queen...these other ladies did not receive the title because they were majorly popular at a certain time...its because they paved the way through blood, sweat, and tears,for others like carrie to be this successful easier...its not a popularity contest its what the artist has done for the industry...carrie has touched what reba has done!
