Who Would You Rather Have Dinner With?

Socialists Socialists everywhere . We're doomed. Ahhhhhhh.
People are so afraid of socialism yet they use government social programs every day of their life and should be glad they have them. It's not just the programs to help those who have fallen victim to predatory capitalists, like the 9 million unemployed right now. Or the families who have such low paying jobs they can't afford health insurance and go on Medicaid. Or the aged who have to rely on Social Security and Medicare in their retirement because the Wall Street casino or our yo-yo economy took their life savings or pensions just when they reach retirement age like the baby boomers retiring now. Or they never had a good paying job allowing them to save enough to retire on. But all the other programs every citizen uses every day like public schools and universities, roads, highways, airports, sidewalks, public utilities, waterways, national parks and state parks, police and fire departments. Do you really think we should privatize all of this for corporate profit ? Without national and state parks this country's "crown jewels" would be bulldozed , stripped, and developed, because they could get more quick bucks by doing so. All roads and bridges would be toll roads, and what are now public utilities would be much more expensive because it would be a local monopoly. All schools would be expensive private schools. And the U.S.P.S which is not only cheaper but covers many small communities that UPS and Fed Ex can't afford to would be a big loss to us and especially businesses. Police and Fire protection would be a monthly bill based on the value of your property and by how much profit you could afford to pay them. Without the EPA or FDA you would have to pay more to safeguard your food and to keep pollution under control. If all these or even just a couple of these government programs were to end tomorrow, the anti-socialists would be the first ones rioting in the streets. So people who rant and rave every time government provides a needed service, - about socialism- should look around and count all the good things about government they take for granted. You and your families rely on it every day and without these social programs life as we know it would be much more difficult if not impossible for many people. And finally, demand everyone pay their fair share of taxes. The corporate elite benefit the most from most of these programs. Despite the fact that they believe (in their own little narcissistic world) they built it all themselves.
