Werner Kemplerer. Funny thing is if you remove the German WWII military theme, he can be found in any office or government agency. He's the manager who gets promoted just so he gets out of another department that's tired of his bungling, inane actions. You ever meet someone like that where you work? I'll bet you have!
Oh, definitely. I had one that was so lazy, if anyone needed anything she would call on the phone to find out what they wanted instead of walking over. The only time she moved from her seat was when she needed the restroom and don't get in her way or stop her to ask a question. You'd get run over. I drew the line when she asked me to walk over to Wendy's to get her a burger, fries and a coke. Told her if she wanted it, she could walk over herself. No doubt, I've met Colonel Klink during my working career.
He was the Commandant of Stalag 13. The irony of this is, Werner Klemperer, while playing a "bumbling Kommanant" was in all actually, Jewish. His family defected to the U.S. at the start of WWII.

I didn't know about the connection either but came across it when I was looking up the order of the Petticoat Junction/Beverly Hillbillies/Green Acre connection.
