Whoever asked the other out would be my default; however, I will always offer to pay, giving her the opportunity to make her wishes known. It's no big deal either way to me.

I've only been married a month and two days, but my mom taught me: "the more you let him thing he's in charge, the more you will get what you want-you just have to let him think it's HIS idea".

The person who did the asking. But offering dutch is fair if done by the one invited.

I've never asked a guy out on a date, and every guy I ever dated always picked up the check. That's the way real men treat their women.

Whoever did the asking should at least offer to pay, but a smart person would be ready to go dutch if the need arises.

Usually the man especially if he's the one who initiated the date. But its always nice if she offers to pay or perhaps pay the tip, just the gesture alone goes a long way in my book.

It's been a long time since I've dated, but every date I ever had picked up the check. They would have been offended if I had suggested otherwise.

It may be a little different now because I've had a couple of women offer to pay for a meal or drinks even though I was the one who asked them out. In fact with one we often split the costs, for example I paid for dinner while she paid for the movie afterwards. It didn't offend me in the least, quite the opposite in fact. Of course for the first few dates I always paid, I guess our comfort level with each other had reached the point where it was OK with both of us?

No one in my circle of friends have ever let their female dates pick up the check, they would have been humiliated.
