I still remember Red Foley, Eddie Arnold, Bob Wills an d many others. We used to listen to the clear channel stations from atop a terrace in Glendora, New Jersey. The second story was approximately 40 feet above the the normal height for the area. We received WWVA and WSM like they were local stations. Coffee Drinkin' Lee More was selling autographed bibles for $9.95. I never figured how Jesus autographed them.

I also heard Hank Williams on the Grand Ol Opry. I might have heard him on the Original Louisiana Hayride, also. Thsoe were some fine times in country music.

In the 40's at a small town in Penna. I think it was Mertztown , Lyons or near those. The area was Sally Ann Furnace. Each summer the park would bring in people (we didn't know just who they were).l remember several...a woman named Minnie Pearl, and a guy or group called Grandpop Jones. I worked at that park in a game they had and I could work and listen to the country music.

Grandpa Jones was great at frailling the banjo. This is a technique that is almost impossible if you have arthritis. The movements are opposite each other. I know, I have never been able to do that. I play the old three finger claw hammer style attributed to Earl Scruggs.

I wish you continued happiness with your music. Some of us do remember the oldies and now we are the oldies.

Hee Haw was the sixties. It was a good program.. "Doom , despair, and agony on me, deep dark depressiion, excessive misery, If it weren't for bad luck i'd have no luck at all. Doom , despair, and agony on me. The words are still stuck in my noggin.
