I knew she was a figurehead if you will but, i am certain if she wants something done or a vote to go a certain way she could. with the clown being reelected i was wondering if Great Britan has a return policy as does Israel. my mom is of Scots/English ancestry. i will fly into Heathrow and when the customs man asks me how long do i plan on staying i will say...for good. he would probably laugh and say we only allow third world zulus and sloths who wont learn english in the country[hey sounds like us !]

I think not, she is what they call a 'political prisoner' and it's not house arrest, it really is jail.The old Eastern Bloc mindset i'm afraid. This is happening under the noses of the European Union, it beggars belief.

From what I gather, it very much looks like a political move indeed... But from what I hear from my friend's wife (she's ukranian), corruption is endemic over there... If you want something done, you'll have to bribe someone at some point... Nobody's is 100% clean it seems... But she says that Yulia did some great things for the country nonetheless and that a majority of ukranians support her...

As you said, old eastern bloc mindset... Old habits die hard eh? Sad...

Yes corruption is rife, and not only the old Eastern Bloc, Spain and Greece etc, what we call Club Med (mediterranian) countries have avoided paying taxes for generations, and now find themselves in huge debt.
I bought a house in Spain in 1999, and even my lawyer was in on the tax avoidance scam, even,yes even the bank suggested i declare that the house was cheaper than the asking price to avoid the full tax. No wonder Europe is going bankrupt. 80% of Brits are demanding a referendum so that we can leave the European Union. It's just not our way.

While the Royals may appear to be apolitical they have significant role in state. The Queen is not an American-style politician but carries political clout nonetheless.
