In truth, I would vote for a ham sandwich if it ran against Obama. My only problem with Romney, and the rest of the Republican party as well, is they do not fight back.
For this particular battle, I see no problem with sinking to the level of the Democrats. As it is now, when one wave a fist, our guys go and hide behind the barn.

Let's just drink it in.......
I warned the conservatives 3-4 YEARS ago......
That if they wanted a shot at victory, they needed to reject the religious fundamentals that have been dictating their agenda.
I told them they needed to move to the center.
What did they do?
obstructed every inch of the way until even getting the minuets read from the last Senate meeting required a 2/3s majority.....
They gave play to the VERY destructive Tea Party, that had it's heart in the right place.....for the first month, untill it too was loaded with fringe dwellers all stockpiling canned beets in their cellars and ammunition in the refrigerater.
They left the country with three choices:
Left,
Right,
And FAR RIGHT.
While expousing as successful, such complete abject failures like
"trickle down economics".
Am I gloating because I adore the current President?
Nope.
I'm gloating because ONE simple Sergeant in the Army (me) foresaw the hard landing and hurt feelings you set yourselves up for.
I even tried to warn you.
Hell, I even MAPPED OUT A FOOLPROOF, VICTORY INSURING PLATFORM without even addressing economic issues.
Hold your position on guns- Individual Freedom.
Legalize marrige for ALL adult Americans of legal ag...

Had you listened, you would have had an absolute rainmaker-slam dunk of a victory even if making sand dollars legal tender was your economic plan.

Oh, but there will still be "unanticipated problems" with absentee ballots from military members. Somehow the Democrats always do their best to keep the military votes from counting.
