Which was the worst (real life) way to go?

Art June 14, 2008 18:36:34
Australian TV personality Steve Irwin, a/k/a "The Crocodile Hunter," was killed in 2006 while filming an underwater documentary. A stingray stabbed him, the barb piercing his heart.
Environmentalist Timothy Treadwell loved grizzly bears so much that he lived with them in Alaska during 13 consecutive summers. In 2003, one of them killed and then partially consumed him, and also killed his girlfriend.
1977's "Complete Book of Running" is widely credited with starting the running craze that swept America, and with establishing author and runner Jim Fixx as one of the nation's foremost experts on fitness. He died of a heart attack in 1984 while running.
Actor Brandon Lee was killed in 1993 when a prop gun malfunctioned during filming of the movie "The Crow." Oddly, his father, actor Bruce Lee, died while working on a film 20 years earlier.
French president Felix Faure, 58, died suddenly on Feb. 16, 1899. He suffered a hemorrhage while having sex with a woman in his office.
Martial arts actor Bruce Lee collapsed and died on July 20, 1973, at the age of 42. Depending on whom you asked, the cause of death was either cerebral edema, excess use of cannabis or the abuse of the pain medication Equagesic.
Garry Hoy was showing a group of students how unbreakable the windows were in the Toronto-Dominion Bank Tower. He threw himself against one. Hoy plunged 24 stories to his death.
William Henry Harrison, the ninth president of the United States, died of pneumonia on April 4, 1841, exactly one month after taking office. Harrison had delivered his two-hour inaugural address outdoors, in the cold, with no overcoat.
When pizza deliveryman Brian Wells was caught after robbing an Erie, Penn., bank in 2003, he told police he'd been coerced by people who'd placed a bomb around his neck. The bomb exploded.
.S. Army Gen. George S. Patton survived battles with Pancho Villa's forces, survived World War I and then survived World War II, only to break his neck in a car crash in Germany in December 1945. He died of complications from that injury.
You!

Dying doing something you love, or believe in is one thing, but to be forced by threat of death to do something you don't believe in, then to be threatened again by people who don't believe you, and in the end, be killed anyway....Man! Talk about injustice! This guy had to have some REALLY sticky karma to pay off.

Timothy Treadwell was an idiot who deluded himself into thinking he had a "connection" with grizzly bears. He said he was "becoming" a bear by living with them so closely. I watched "Grizzly Man", and at the end, I was really rooting for the bear.

The torture before the bomb went off seems to be the cruelest of your selections. The others seemed to go pretty quickly in comparison.
Imagine the fear in that man waiting and the police (supposed to be public servants) not believing him or helping him.

Matthew Shephard was killed in a drug deal gone wrong.

I know it's a cause celebre for the gay rights crowd but even the district attorney who prosecuted his murderers says this is the case:

The Bruce Lee thing - You can't die from excess use of cannabis. You'll pass out before you can smoke too much.

No one has ever died of a marijuana overdose
"This is true. It was put in to see if you are paying attention. Animal tests have revealed that extremely high doses of cannabinoids are needed to have lethal effect. This has led scientists to conclude that the ratio of the amount of cannabinoids necessary to get a person intoxicated (i.e., stoned) relative to the amount necessary to kill them is 1 to 40,000. In other words, to overdose, you would have to consume 40,000 times as much marijuana as you needed to get stoned. In contrast, the ratio for alcohol varies between 1 to 4 and 1 to 10. It is easy to see how upwards of 5000 people die from alcohol overdoses every year and no one EVER dies of marijuana overdoses. "

If you can die from drinking water, I do believe it is possible to die from an overdose of cannabis.

    Followed by the runner.

Those two died doing their job, of unforseeable causes. The

Environmentalist was an idiot. (But I repeat myself)

Steve Irwin dodged the bullet alot of times. Love him, but it was past due IMHO.

Harrison died of stupidity. As did Garry Hoy.

Gen. Patton died of an unforseen accident, but a common way of dying.

Felix Faur died of likewise, common causes (Over 50, having sex, cardio problems)

Bruce Lee died of the least known causes, so I can't really say on him.

Brian Wells is an honorable mention and likely had the most fear involved, but involuntary suicide bombs have been used in movies and real life. (Swordfish, Iraq) His death was instant.

Well Mac, the point was not about your opinion of the people but your opinion OF the Worse Real Life Way to Go...........Personally, being killed by a gun doesn't seem so bad as compared to being eaten by a bear, or blown up by a bomb. Doesn't matter what kind of people any of them were. It's the WAY they died.

The way they got into the circumstance would also play a part then.

The one I picked had the maximum amount of input into their methods, yet did not know it. The fact that the unknown can do such a thing is in fact something I find to be both awesome and terrible.

I stick with my post. Thanks for your input.

It seems most of these people died doing the things they loved. Garry Hoy Had a few sweconds of horror watching the ground come up to meet him. Brian Wells comes next in my opinion, because he was telling the police about the bomb and they didn't believe him.
