Both may account, but father mostly, and NOT in a good way. When my brother and i were kids he was too heavy with the discipline and trying to control everything, very bad tempered. My shrink thinks that is why I have self-esteem issues.of course if he was abusive now I would probably break his neck! Sorry, but I got residual anger issues about the whole thing!

She was all I had. Her abuse turned my psychotic, with the further evils of life I finally even surpassed THAT and was an empty shell for awhile. Although most of the lights are back on now, they glow considerably more dim than they were. I'm still angry, but now I'm more depressed and nervous than anything else, and am sometimes even a nice guy. Life huh?

Her selfish and abusive ways helped me realize that I must be reliant on myself and because of her, I know how NOT to be a good mother.

Each had their own area.... From my dad, I learned my work ethic, business sense, and disciplinary style that I use with my kids.... From my mom, I learned how to be compassionate & patient with people, and how to deal with criticism.

Both were hard on me, but my dad yelled at me. So I have developed depressive/anxiety disorder. It was also good to me in a way though, I feel like I must succeed or I'm useless. lol I'm sure I wouldn't have graduated high school if I didn't feel like I absolutely had to.

My dad was always working, so I didn't see him much growing up. My reactions are too similar to my mom's to deny. I look just like her, but I tend to think like him, but my temper is all mom, all the time.

My mom is a Christian, I am a pagan. My dad is a neo-con, I am a libertarian anarcho-capitalist. My parents ideals didn't shape me, my life experiences did.

My father is very abusive to everyone, even me his own son.
He says I'm gay if I disagree with what he says.

My parent's are both really negative on everything, but CAN be positive and good people. My dad is racist and my mom is homophobic, When i was growing up i knew that it wasn't right to hate someone because of their race or preferred gender to love. So, because of that i accept everyone for everything. They also taught me a lot of positive things like to respect our soldiers and law officials. My parent's have given both negative and positive impacts. Though i was mostly raised by my sister's. :)

Character-wise, my parents both played key parts in how I ended up. And I like to think they did a pretty good job of it too. But the way I have "ended up" was really not under their control, so they don't have to take any blame. Bless their hearts. 100% of their impact on me was good.

I was very fortunate to have two loving parents. My mom stayed home to nurture me. My father had his office in our home. They loved each other and me. Children do best with a father(male) and mother(female).

It takes two parents to raise a child. Sorry folks but I don't consider a turkey baster a parental figure.

I was an ORPHAN, a CHILD OF THE STATE. I lived in foster homes, groups homes, children shelters, and boys correctional institutions, a by-product of the GREAT STATE SYSTEM, exactly what the left/progressives are wanting to impact our country with, STATISM: the theory or practice of concentrating economic and political power in the state, resulting in a weak position for the individual or community with respect to the government.
I know who had an IMPACT on my life and who didn't, if we want to ask the question was it a MAN or a WOMAN, both sexes are just as capable of warmth and/or coldness; neither man or woman, get a POSITIVE IMPACT on the WHOLE OF MY LIFE, they cancel one another out, both get an equal contribution. But WHO, the STATE IMPACTED MY LIFE, they contributed the GREATEST AMOUNT OF COLD PAIN, meaning without regret or insight for the INDIVIDUAL. THE MACRO or MICRO, THE STATE or THE INDIVIDUAL, I say the individual. The question asked says it all.

I am sure my answer does not really falls in line with what would have been TYPICAL; but who IMPACTED my life, the question didn't ask whether it was POSITIVE or NEGATIVE, so I answered with WHO REALLY IMPACTED MY LIFE, the PEOPLES PROXY CARE MACHINE, THE STATE.

    I LOATH THE STATE.

I lost my parents far too young. They both instilled the values and morals that are with me to this day, have been passed on to my kids and even my 12 year old granddaughter.
Good job for 2 people who weren't with me nearly long enough.
Both older brothers, well, the same for them and their families.
    Good job Ma and Dad.
