Layne Staley and Freddie Mercury in a couple of their last appearances. Listen to both songs, especially if you like both singers/bands...

Nutshell, last appearance on MTV, 1993, basically telling folks he's in too deep, can't be saved, goodbye...

Show Must Go On, similar, written and performed knowing his fate, says I'm not gonna be around, move on without me...accidentally posted a version from Elton John?, can't edit, Mercury is below...

AIC - Nutshell

I will always be a fan of Layne Staley. He had an incredible voice. Alice and Chains had been around for a long time before Layne came along, without a whole lot of notice. When they became Alice in Chains and added his talent to the group they took right off.

I'm trying to find Freddie singing Show Must Go On. I could've sworn I've seen him sing it. Maybe he just recorded it in the studio, but never sang it live...

...he wrote it as he was dying. I think he might have recorded it in the studio shortly before he died, but never performed it. It was his going away present.
