God lord, I grew up watching and loving all of these. It's hard to choose. Happy Days wasn't so good toward the end though, but I cried like a baby at the series finale of M*A*S*H. I'll just go with All In The Family, though. Archie Bunker was a trip!

They were all great, however All In the Family I think was the most socially significant, it "discussed" subjects particularly race relations, homosexuality (I remember the episode when Archie thinks one of Meatheads friends is gay because he fits a stereotype but in fact it is the straight acting football playing friend of Archies that turns out to be a "fairy", reverse "affirmative action" when the white joking guy that does not work keeps his job but the purerto rican (who works hard) loses his, it goes on and on. The show opened peoples eyes. It's a pitty that there are still so many Archie Bunkers (without his ability to see reason etc.) around today.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show was a groundbreaking tv show with a lasting cultural impact, not just for the writing but creating a character that everyone could relate to.

Holy smokes........The Mary Tyler Moore Show is the only one on this list that I consider to be good and that I still go out of my way to watch. Another good one is the Bob Newhart Show.

MASH sucked balls......the McLean Stevenson years were fair but the anti-war stuff just annoyed me.

Happy Days was OK when I was a kid but I also feel the writing got bad toward the end and I hated how the live studio audience screamed everytime someone came onstage.

All In The Family pissed me off because they always tried to make Archie look stupid and wrong.

The Jeffersons is the best of the rest here. I liked it as a kid even with the honkey hating.

I think the only reason I watched MASH was to try and figure out why everyone was so crazy about it.The only episode I truly enjoyed was the last one.

I agree. The message was clear when it started, but when they started following a recipe it became repetetive and redundant in a very short amount of time.I still can't believe it went on for so long,it was painful.

So true, but that is when we have to start questioning people's "good taste".I guess the easiest way is to look at where it comes from.Between you and me,screw humanity,I prefere to live life on the edge

I hate to beat a dead horse but MASH,a sitcom based on the vietnam war was about as funny as Hogan's Heros,a comedy about POW's in a nazi concentration camp. When you take it apart and look at it like that,is it still funny?

Well I happen to be a big fan of Hogan's Heroes and that show was more of an adventure comedy rather than a political anti-war satire like MASH.

    I see your point however.

One side note, Hogan's Heroes was originally scripted to take place in a State or Federal Prison and was changed to the POW camp at the urging of the networks.
