they do that to mark territory so other animals don't come near and eat plants and get i the house.

Got two of each.....Dogs....unconditional love, plus they will chew butt on any intruders until you grab your weapon of choice...Cats....great to keep your lap warm for a few minutes of petting, after that, they will stay out of the way till dinner time, except, we have a huge Siamese that weighs over 20 pounds...he will charge up and knock our 38 pound Beagle head over heels...which makes him an attack cat!

Dogs

I must say I prefer dogs. Don't mind cats, but don't have one. My dogs are always happy to see me. When I used to house sit my brothers house years ago, his cats were never to be seen unless it was feeding time. The dogs were always around and showing love.

Dogs

I'm much more of a dog person, and I love the herding breeds in particular.
Collies, german shepherds, australian shepherds, border collies, shelties. :D

We did have a siamese cat when I was a kid, and he was lovely! He had a great disposition, and didn't seem to mind when we played tricks on him like putting a piece of tape on his tail and watching him chase it. Actually we treated him well most of the time - he he!
