I've had Dells in the past, and their desktops used to be first rate. Since I've switched to laptops, I vote Toshiba, though I also have a Lenovo which seems to be good. To be honest, I'd vote for almost anything over an HP. I've had terrible luck with them.

You're lucky! My ex left a fairly new HP desktop which gave me nothing but trouble. My older Toshiba laptop is in much better condition, as the newer HP desktop won't work at all now, but I've spent too much trying to get the blasted thing to work. I gave up on it and use the laptops. HP printers, though, I've had great experience with. Gave my old color laser to my daughter and her new husband, as I wanted a wireless. It's great to sit in another room and tell the thing to print rather than having to go hook up the laptop to it. :)

the only problem I've had is sneaky little viruses that occasionally screwed it up...the software I have now has had it run error-free for 3 years in a row!!

My ex, due to some of the questionable stuff he was doing, had some very nasty viruses on the thing. I tried to get them cleaned and even had it to the shop twice and reformatted. Finally, just quit. It was newer than my older laptop, had barely the use, other than the abuse my ex gave it, so I wasn't happy with it. I sometimes think I should have a tower, but then think, why? I can sit and play with my feet up (grin). All of my computers are protected and cleaned regularly. We had virus software, but stupid ex never installed it or kept it up to date on his tower. Oh, well. you can't cure stupid, can you?

Watch out for the ad "PC Clean" that you see on tv....if you log in, you can't remove them from your screen....had to get the computer experts to get that out of the computer...another time I got the Blue Screen of Death....I don't know how that happened...

LOL! The last time I think that's what happened, but I'd already spent more than the thing was worth, so I let it croak. I can recommend of couple of good programs which are free--you can donate with either, but you can also use them forever if you want. PC Magazine recommends both. First is called Clean Up. Cleans your caches, temp files, and tracking cookies. Gets rid of a lot of problems before they have time to take hold. The guy who developed it asks you to consider donating 3.99, but you don't have to do it. http://www.stevengould.org/in...

The second is called Spybot which gets rid of a lot of spyware which even virus programs miss. Also free, though again, you can donate, if you wish. http://www.winportal.com/spyb...
