My surname comes from Poland. A purely Polish surname - Rynkiewicz. Apparntly it comes from the word 'Rynek' which means 'Square', but like a Town's Square.

interesting... Northampton is a large market town and local government district in the East Midlands region of England. Situated about 67 miles (108 km) north-west of London and around 50 miles (80 km) south-east of Birmingham, Northampton lies on the River Nene and is the county town of Northamptonshire. The demonym of Northampton is Northamptonian.

Original settlements in Northampton date back to the 6th century.

Germany. I used to go downtown during an exercise called Bragade 76 where the US Army got this Idea to put another bragade in Germany but they didn't exist on paper so to speak. 4 posts were picked stateside and each unit was going to go for 6 months and not have to take familys. Places like Graf and Hoenfels are scedualed years in advance but we thought the french or british were just going to give up their time for us and of course they didn't. So we were issued 63 brand new M60A1 tanks with nowhere to play with them. Anyway I would go into the town of Weisbaden to the phone company to make long distance calls to the wife and kids and while waiting for the call to go through I used to read their phone books. I found about 6 Braumillers over there but never was allowed to have an auto to look them up. I think that would have been neat.

My maiden name was extremely rare and it comes from Cornwall, England. I always thought it was French until I started doing my genealogy. I was really wrong!
