But I try not to because they only goes longer if you do. I have a coworker that comments on everyword my boss says and we all stare at her with a mean look everytime.
well when i was in my senior year in high school i was the class secretary and i always had to read the minutes of the last meeting it was soooo boring
I normally sit and listen and try to figure out the real purpose of the meeting.. Look and see who is pushing what, think about why they are pushing it and figuring out what is in my best interest... If you are in a meeting there is a reason you are there.. someone thinks you have something to add to the discussion.. Someone may be watching you to see if you have a future or not.. Speak only if you have something to say and have knowledge about what you are saying.... (we are talking real meetings right? Not how much slushie to put in the cup right? because if it is that meeting... I am not coming!)
While I accept all assigned tasks, I do so because, if not, one would never be challenged in area's that they might not ever attempt and then possibly succeed. I love that feeling of doing a new thing and doing it very well. "IF" I enter an area that is biting off more than I can chew, I generally find I can get help when honest about the whole situation.
It depends on the meeting. When we have company wide meetings, they usually focus on sales, and I have nothing to do with that, so I have no reason to speak up. But, if I'm meeting about my job, then sure I speak up. Never does me any good, though.
We have meetings every Tuesday morning without fail. I have been here 12 or 13 years, so I accept assignments and contribute all the time...it's called job security!!
As an insurance agent, I have lived out a hugh portion of my life in meetings. I always speak up and contribute to anything that is going on, but I learned early on, how to refuse extra assignments by honestly saying, 'Sorry, I don't have time'.
My meetings are at my truck...and the subs better darn listen intently ...read the work specifications...and get the work done at a more than average quality or better...meetings are short and to the point...follow the game plan.
More than likely you presumed correctly Nanart...we all communicate quite well...they speak their concerns and I speak mine...teamwork...we all make money and we all are happy...when bickering starts and if keeps going on...now where do you presume the bickerer will be...We are very open minded...once a year I get one that wants to do things their way and wants to shortcut...needless to say...adios amigo.
I am in a very competitive career and believe me the better one listens the better the team works. Only bickerer happens to be the head mans wife, also associate. It can get pretty quiet around here at times. I just keep being the ever constant, ever available.
At the meeting I was at today, I volunteered for 3 and was asked for one....that's usually how it goes ; )
roflmao!!!!!!
