+1The pic's of the USS Midway. What ship did you serve on?reply - Bill themadh... 2012/04/15 00:10:09
Barton, Somers, Cony, Conway, Hank. and the Lowry The last time I saw the Midway was at Hunters Point in '68. She was being modernized. Getting the angle flight deck, new elevators. A complete remanufacture. They got another 30 yrs out of her. I was at Hunters Point recommissioning the Somers from DD947 to DDG 34. I was a snipe in the after engine room. The Somers was the only "modern" can I was on.reply - themadh... Bill 2012/04/15 00:13:35
+1Sounds great! Thanks for your service!reply - Bill themadh... 2012/04/15 00:18:09
+1Only the Navy would let a 19 yr old kid run a 30,000 hp steam engine! It was kinda fun really. It's a bit hard to top it though.reply
