When answering a knock at your door; what is the last thing that you would want to see in front of you?

The solicitors for electric companies since NJ's started the Energy Choice are ridiculous! They want you to give them a copy of your elec bill and your home phone number to show they're bosses that they've been to your house to visit EVEN IF you say "no thank you!". That way they're company can rightfully call you every other day to get you to switch!
I've spread the word and now all of my neighbors and I stop them at the street and tell them that unless they have a permit to solicit, not to come further. They walk away with a little protest bc they don't have permits but I'm afraid some smarty-pants will figure this out and start collecting unsuspecting people's information and steal their identity! There's so many electric companies that send these people out on foot to drum up business that almost anyone can do it and seem legit!

Most people don't walk all the way up my walkway when they see and hear my dog anyway. People that know me and are welcome know my dog so she doesn't bother them but she earns her keep well! :-)

However, I always look through my peephole before I answer my door.

At night, I turn out the living room light and then look through the peephole so as to not alert the potential threat on the other side that I'm looking through the peephole. This will make it less likely for any potential assailant to whack me in the face by bashing in my door as I look through the peephole.

I also never go to the door without some sort of armament.
