Good Grief ..

With all the wonderful summertime food choices coming up on polls ..

The Fridge/Freezer is calling to me ...
Blender is now on the countertop ..
and I'm headed to making a MilkShake!

I'm so embarrassed, I have never had a milkshake. I have tasted them, and thought they were good, but never have had one. I guess that makes me nuts!

AH .. but you HAVE Tasted .. so that does count!

At its simplest .. it is just MILK .. with Ice Cream and blended smooth ..
(that's the basics) ..
Rest is all up to the individual .. and how they learned to make a very tasty, fresh treat!

When I was younger there was this hole in the wall hamburger shop that made fresh food and shakes all the time. I would go in for a cheeseburger and a peanut butter shake. They used chunky peanut butter, and it was awesome. When they went out of business ( i think it was family owned ), the only other place that made peanut butter shakes was Sonic, then they stopped so Now i do a caramel shake by sonic, and they add the whipped cream, yum.
Other flavors are good and some with the fresh fruit, but still Sonic and their shakes are really good.

I like smoothies, myself. We make them with either juice or almond milk, yogurt and frozen fruit. Healthy and refreshing on a hot summer day.

I use ice cream and chocolate syrup only! I also mix fresh orange juice with orange sherbert. Yumm!!

Any milkshake made from scratch with fresh fruit is absolutely amazing, be it berries or something like peaches. A county fair in the SW area of Washington state has a booth run by the Dairy Wives. They specialize in milkshakes handmade with fresh fruit. The peach is absolutely delicious--this from a chocolate person! YUM!

The local country fair is fun, but does not have a lot in the way of food--mostly just the ones which follow fairs, which is not my fave. The one across the state, near where I used to live is wonderful. Most of the food is made by local groups--churches, boy scout troops, local service organizations, and of course, groups, like the dairy wives which spotlight the products produced locally. It's really worth going to. :)

I know what your saying, the beginning of June, we have our city fair, and they have all the above, funnel cakes, shakes, smoothies, gelatos, then they have community organizations come in and the cook, like hamburgers, hot dogs, turkey legs, which they cook out in the open, so the smells lure you in. They also have the onion blossoms with dipping sauce as you like it. I can't wait now. Getting hungry for one of their turkey legs. Oh yeah and I forgot corn dogs

anything fresh will do but we all know that the very best cannot be bought in any form in the us - really fresh milk is still warm from the cow and cream from that milk is wonderful

fresh picked blueberruies and strawberries are a must

with honey just squeezed out of the comb for sweetener - youm

Blue Bunny or Bryers ice cream....Vannilla....1 cup 1/2 and 1/2...4 huge scoops ice cream..2 tablespoons malted milk powder...Put it in the blender and BAM !!!!!...The best vanilla malt in the world....Homemade ice cream is the best to use though...Now you want me to make some homemade ice cream...lol

I actually do at times make home-made ice cream .. but that BRYERS .. oh, my .. that's good stuff indeed (So is blue bunny!)
