    - One who holds great power over mankind controls the world,
But one who holds great power over one's self controls the universe -

    - To have knowledge, makes one intelligent.
But to be wise, one must know how to use that knowledge to benefit all -

    - With age comes wisdom, and with wisdom comes beauty -

    Blessings to all and,
May all be well with you ^_^

Being wise is acquired though age and is basically the ability to philosophicaly ration with the commonsenses in life. I think sometimes this leared from "trail and error", where intelligence is more of something that is inherited through genes??

A smart person would look up the definition of the two words some time in their life but a wise one additionally recognizes why the differences are and aren't important, how applicable they are and how to best apply them. Something like that.

Being smart is when you're book smart and your IQ is above average or higher.
Wisdom is the ability to utilize your knowledge correctly.
You can be smart without being wise, but you can't be wise without having some degree of intelligence.

My best guess: Smart is someone who knows. Wise is someone who understands. Knowing and understanding are of course, two separate things.

Wise seems more of philosophical trait or dealing with behaviors or real life scenarios. Smart seems to lean more towards scholastic topics... But I'm neither so don't listen to me!
