As soon as they are out and about without parental supervision.The phone is not for them, it's for me, the parent. Parent handbook says we have to feed, clothe, shelter only. It says nothing about cell phones....LOL :-]

Its more of a safety precaution than an indulgence, so if my daughter needs me she can get me when she's having a sleep over.

When they start Driving......... We all got along just fine without having to text the kid in the chair next to you 15x during class. pass a note and save on minutes

Yeah I forgot that part too... my 2 teens are buying prepaid this weekend so they know what its like to be restricted on minutes or have to pay more. I should have done that for my oldest who is now 24 and still on my plan..... My son is 10 and already asking when he can get one? I say when you can push a mower.
