I still have a rotary phone (still works) which uses a 4-conductor cord with RJ-11 plug (modem). TIP, if you still use a landline, make sure to have at least with a cord plugged into the wall, if the power goes out, often the CORDED phones still work (cordless WON'T) if you need to summon help, are cell phone antennas on the grid?
One time when there was a black-out over Vancouver, the transit company keep the busiest light rail going on the central section for many hours by carefully using regenerative braking on whatever storage they had. Well Done.
Bus used to be owned by BC Hydro (long ago), would be an asset if the rail & trolley transit had a dedicated power source which could spare power to police & hospital if the grid falls again.
The Tucker, another vehicle too far ahead of its time. I think this 'lights on' policy is only going to help those who proved jump starts. There are certain conditions (bright background) where having the lights on could make you harder to spot.
Citroen had headlights than turned with the steering wheel, makes perfect sense to me.
Another factoid I never quite got right. But then we always had electric heaters. Hah! But at least you knew what a cord of wood is, good for you! Don't hear the term very much anymore.
(I've actually got a Wooden Slide rule .. similar to the one above .. with the Leather Case that I've used extensively when going through my Original Degree programs .. )
Although I'm of the calculator generation, I was still proficient doing multiplication & trigonometry on one of those. How many grads nowadays can do long division with pencil & paper. Or Addition/Subtraction for that matter? Square Roots? Do they bother with multiplication tables now?
also loved the commercial spoofs but you probably had to be there.
Thanks mk. :)
Thanks Kozmo. :)
