    No matter how it sounds to other people, this is something that did change my life. Harry Potter is the reason I have half of the friends that I have, and it's how I found the things I'm good at. It taught me a million more life lessons than could ever be told to me in school. Stuff that changes your life like that doesn't come about too often.

    For me it used to be the complete works of Edgar Allen Poe, which I read for around six years repeatedly since age six (advanced reading skills :P) then I read Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, and that really gave me a deeper view on life, so did the short story Harrison Burgeron, as well as Lois Lowry's The Giver... but ultimately, these books have been my whole life

    My Sister s Keeper Harry Potter Series

    Learned so much from all of these books. These books helped me become the person that I am today, and helped me learn some very important things. My absolute favorites!

    The Collected Writings of Ambrose Bierce. It taught me that people suck and life is just a sick, twisted joke. It taught me to find hilarity in the sadistic and tragic. It taught me to be a sarcastic misanthrope. It taught me that I have a sardonic sense of humor.

    The Old and New Testament, the day I finished the book was the day i no longer considered myself a Christian, or in need of being apart of a church

    The first book to The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket: The Bad Beginning. I learned that the world is a mean place, but there is always a sanctuary to escape to, even if just for a little while. I learned that life will never stop trying to trip you or punch you in the face, but that DOES not mean that you should let it. Stand the hell up and punch back, because even the people that you trust, might be the ones to bring you down. This book, series, ended my lonley nights as a child and made me realize that I love reading and want to be a novelist. Who knew a kid's book could do that?

    And: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.
    This book made me see that humor can be found in the most ridiculous of places, to laugh even when your life is a piece of crap, and to love people with all of your heart.Honestly, just enjoy life.

    definately, John Green, my school counselor gave me his book ( The Fault In Our Stars) before it was available in stores and when I read it, it really made me evalutate myself. He's a genius! and Van Houten is a creeper o.o

    Woah, woah. Wait. I might be reading this wrong, but did you just say that the AUTHOR JOHN GREEN is your school counselor? Van Houten is a creeper, but I like how he changed a bit towards the end of the book and tried to right his wrong.

    Truth be told ridiculously enough a video game has started me on the path of the disciplined life. I know it sounds ridiculous and most likely is but hey I've been running two miles daily while doing an intense workout as warm up. And on my downtime I've been studying various philosophies. All in all I think that's a good thing.

    I know the Book of Mormon is available in book stores, but the others, I don't know. Most libraries would have copies.
    I always order mine on-line. They would be more expensive through any other outlet, as the Church is not making a profit. They don't even charge shipping. Deseret Book is another source.
    If you go to lds.org, click on Menu, then in the middle column under The Church, the bottom link is Online Store. Clicking on that, under Gospel Study, you will find Scriptures.

    Series of unfortunate events

    The Series of Unfortunate Events is what helped me overcome my dyslexia. By the time I was done reading the first few (by 5th grade) I was on a college reading level.

    That's really great. I know some people with really minor dyslexia who don't even try because they claim they can't overcome their condition, when I know someone with really intense dyslexia who just got into Duke on a full scholarship. It's great when people work through it.

    I won't say it's easy to overcome but it's definitely possible and always worth a try. Some people just can't accept that maybe it can be overcome.
