I delivered 40 newspapers a day on my bicycle, 6 mornings a week for $0.99 (that's 99 cents). I was 11. A Coke cost 5 cents, candy bars were 5 cents. For 99 cents I could buy 99 Tootsie Rolls.

At 17, after graduating from high school, I went to work in a local shoe factory for $0.95/hour (minimum wage in 1964). Gas cost 26 cents/gallon. My first car, a 1951 Chevy, cost $45.

I haven't gotten a job yet, I've just been volunteering at places like the hospital, the local library and the retirement home. It's actually not bad and it helps your resume! :)

I had the best job ever. I worked in a book store where all I really had to do was read books and tell people what I thought about them. I would go back in an instant!

Before paying taxes, I mowed yards and sold greeting cards door to door. I even washed cars for a car lot before going to school in the mornings for a while at $2 an hour. My first actual tax paying job was with Neptune's Submarine Sandwiches in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. the manager wanted to hire me as the assistant manager after being there only a few months. He didn't seem to understand that I had to go to school.

Mine was working at Dunkin Donuts! I just got out of high school and worked there for about 3 months. It was bad because the customers were very very cheap. Regulars who came in 2-3 times a day for coffee wouldn't leave a tip at all. They wouldn't even leave a few pennies because they used them towards their next cup when they came in again later.I didn't get paid much per hr. either. I think I made $3 and some cents. It was really if you got tips that you made any money and I remember after 1 shift I had a miserable $2.00 in tips for my shift! How much does that suck? I ended up quitting because it was worthless. I practically worked for nothing!

My very first was having three paper routes for different newspapers. Two early morning ones and one afternoon. Also did landscape work on weekends, had my Social Security card at age 11 that was before all the child labor laws.
