A tornado ripping the roof off of my grandmother's house during a hurricane. Most of it landed in a fallow field about 300 yards away.

Hurricanes. I had a house in Jacksonville, FL that the yard was prone to flooding. I had to go out during the storm and dig drainage ditches from the backyard all the way to the street in front so the water didn't come in my backdoor. Then I had to go out in the street and clear out the gutters periodically. At least ONE of my neighbors thanked me.

Rode our a CAT 5 Hurricane while living only 7 miles from the Atlantic. Scary, but not as terrible as the news makes it sound. Cracked me up though - the majority of the city was not flooded but the Weather Channel managed to find the worst spot to broadcast from and then they made it sound like the whole city was that way - gotta love the media.

I was lucky. I lived in South West Houston at the time. I only lost power a few hours, the street flooding however was the real pain in the butt.
