If I am chatting with friends I know well we are often chatting about people-dealing with elderly relatives and dementia or the soccer team both our kids are on. Other times it will be common interests or experiences. With anyone who is also a teacher I am likely to chat about education and children. I will talk about gardening, teaching, my pets, books and did I mention gardening? to anyone who will listen.

I am a very frustrated gardner since I left my husband. He got the house and my garden! I am in an apartment with a balcony garden.

Problem is, I don't usually shoot the breeze. The people I know are eccentric and wax philosophical almost all the time; hence, I reply in kind. I guess the closest to breeze shooting would be music-the good and the crap according to our tastes.
