Rabbits are capable of making many noises, but most of them are very quiet. Animals, like humans, are subject to individual personality, so there are variations in noises made and what is meant by these noises. Some rabbits are stone cold silent. Others are very vocal. Most are in-between.

    Rabbits...

    * Scream - loud, high-pitched - usually only when they are terrified for their life (being predated upon) or in sudden intense pain.

    * Growl/bark - loud, low-pitched - usually when they are seriously pissed off and want you to back off.

    * Gently and rhythmically grind their teeth - very quiet and low - when they are calm content, relaxed, especially if being petted, etc.; this has been likened to a cat purring.

    * Loudly, crunchily, and irregularly grind their teeth when they are in pain or severe discomfort.

    * Squeak/snuffle/oink - quiet, high-pitched - when they are excitedly content, like eating some good food, enjoying a good groom or toy, etc. (Don't confuse this noise with a breathing difficulty or respiratory infection - seek veterinary care if you're at all unsure.)

    * Grunt - rhythmically, very low (base) and quiet - when they are socially excited (playing, or engaging in mating behaviour).

These are just some examples I've observed in my own rabbit (except for the scream, thank Go...

These are just some examples I've observed in my own rabbit (except for the scream, thank God) and heard about from other rabbit keepers. Rabbits otherwise communicate quite a bit through body language. Because they are social animals and evolved to live in large groups, they are much more communicative than, say, cats - solitary creatures.

If they are threatned or frightned, they will screech. By the way how have you been? Haven't heard from you in awhile.
