Finno-Swede (Finnish nationality with Swedish mothertongue) but there's some Russian and Vallonian (French Belgium) blood flowing through my veins I've been told ... :)
I am British, born in Scotland but like many Scots of Irish descent-both on my Mother's and my Father's side of the family.my male forbears came over to this country from Ireland and like so many of them were "navvies" ( heavy manual workers) who were employed in making many of the roads, canals, etc. in Scotland at that time. I might also say that I am proud of my heritage
LOL thank you!! I wish I could ask my great grand parents what brought them here but they were gone before I was born and my grandmother spoke English in public,Norwegian at home, my brother married a girl whose grandparents came from Mexico so between the mix of English,Norwegian, and Spanish we all walk around laughing at each other,it is a happy blend, but we do look odd, blond hair green eyed tall, and my sister in law short dark haired dark skinned dark eyed. LOL the kids don't know which language to speak so they express themselves in whatever way seems to do the job.
Sounds like you have a lot of fun in your family! =) I think most of the Norwegians who immigrated to US, did that because of the adventure (you know, the old viking gene... LOL!), or because they hoped for a better (or different) life. Back then most people were farmers, they had many children, and sometimes not enough farming land for all of them.
i'm an all american mutt. a little bit of this and that and a whole lot of i don't know what. but at the end of the day. i'm a red, white and blue blooded american that will willingly die for the stars and stripes any day to preserve our rights and freedoms. oh... and i'm a little bit patriotic if you couldn't tell. TEE-HEE.
