8th grade- Latin
9th grade- Spanish (even though i already know spanish i still have to take the class)
i want to learn french really bad by the way.. :/
I'm taking French to get language credits (I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it...) and I had a independent study in Japanese (which I loved :3).
Obviously we don't have English-learning classes- our English classes just teach grammar, writing, and such.
It's very useful to know if you're interested in any aspect of Japanese culture (anime, manga, music, games, etc.) Also the pronunciation is incredibly easy and the grammar is very straightforward.
There are some really complicated parts that are difficult to wrap your head around and there are many, many, many things you just need to memorize, but I don't think Japanese is substantially harder than any other language. It just needs practice. :)
I am still, but I'm in my last semester and should graduate this spring assuming I don't fail anything at the last minute. Yup. *thumbs up* Still not nearly fluent though. :( And I really suck at kanji.
Yeah, that'd be what I'd like most I think. My senior project involves translating 20-25 pages of something to English and writing a paper using that as a source. And I also signed up to help translate a segment of a documentary about the earthquake but I haven't started that yet and I'll probably be getting help. It seemed like a good way to get started though. Translating video games, anime, or manga, would definitely be my favorite things I'm sure.

I'd like to get a job as a translator someday, as well! But I'm nowhere near proficiency in Japanese yet...
