I use Airtel. But you cannot get the phone from them. They only provide Blackberrys, and they are Postpaid. And for those you get into a contract with them...on top of it all, by the time your contract is done, you'd have paid much more over the price of the BB itself. So here what is done, is this. You go to a shop, buy yourself a phone you like. The select a Service provider of your choice...that's pretty much it...(kinda crazy..i know)
I have Verizon and I only paid $206 for my iPhone, including accessories, plus a $50 credit. I've been with Verizon for 3 yrs...the last year I was going month to month but needed to upgrade my phone that I had for 3 yrs so I'm back with a 2 year contract which goes by so fast.
I got one with Virgin for 200 down and ten percent of my bill each month goes towards the cost of the phone. Plus, mine was 850.00 not 1200.00. You can pay down extra whenever you want to. Six gigs of data for 30 dollars a month with other things added on there. My bill is about 40.00 dollars a month. You can find plans out there where the phone isn't that expensive.
Hey Sadie...thanks for that...but I live in Tanzania, East Africa...its not how things work here at all. Trust me, its sad and rather annoying...VERY annoying!!!! They are not planning to change the system into that any time soon anyway...so I'm pouting in their direction, period! LOL
