My town is called Vega Baja, but it was once known as "Melao Melao" because it was the town with the most productivity of sugar cane. So, yeah.

Being the largest city in NE outside of Boston.
Once being the greatest city to live in in the country.
The National Chili Cook-off has been hosted here for the last 2 years, if that is something that you are into.

Lesbians and STDs, although I think the STD rumor is dying out. Not sure though. Also, a very high percentage of rednecks. Oh! Also, Kersey Valley Spooky Woods. It was featured on the Travel Channel so I guess it's popular.

we have two high schools, one is public and one is private. The private school gives our town a good name because they are good academically and athletically.

If live in a small town of Hayneville, Alabama. Our history is more related to the Civil Rights movement. Every year they have a festival for civil right activist name Jonathan Daniels who was murdered here doing around that time. Also before the Civil War, Hayneville was a pretty big town. Til the Union troops burn it down during the Civil War. It was bigger than our capitol city Montgomery.

P.S.

They have written a book called "Outside Agitators," that was ban here in the state of Alabama. It explain the history of civil rights movement in our small town.

Has the same name as a well known city in Scotland. The local high school mascot is known as the Scotties and they have kilt clad band members.
