I haven't had salsa, but the closest to it that I like is garlic sauce, typical to Romania, crushed garlic with lots of oil, vinegar/ lemon juice and salt. Yogurt or sourcream are optional. Goes very well with steaks and french fries. mmmmmm mujdei de usturoi

    1 white onion, chopped
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
    2 jalapeno peppers
    1 serrano pepper
4 cloves garlic 1 lime, juiced
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 pinch ground black pepper
    1/2 bunch cilantro

The stuff my wife makes right here at home and cans for future use. As it ages in the jars it developes an entirely unique taste and bite all to itself.
