    1. Sichuan Spicy Beef with lots of dried chilli, chilli oil and pickled vegetable
    2. Hokkido Style with Roast Pork Shoulder & Garlic (but must be fresh cooked, not instant)
    3. Korean Kimchi with extra fresh chilli sauce

I know Ramein is not really healthy food and don't eat it very often, but sometimes if I work late and miss dinner-time I love a big bowel of Ramein with lots of soup and some hot spicy stuff.

Near my house are several noodle and dumbling shops including one fresh handmade Ramein and I admit in cold weather this one is my favorite.

    Great question.

Top Ramen and Maruchan are the worst in this world, they are cheap and full of junk. Ichiban is the best I like all the flavors and you can add slices of beef or chicken or shrimp along with chives, mushrooms, cabbage and an egg for a really good meal. But if you don't want the dried kind, find a International Market and buy the fresh ones and cook as directed add any or all the above for a great meal.

Looks good for package Ramein, where is my bowel?

But honestly, if you want the best you have to go to a fresh, handmade noodle shop and I'm lucky to live near one with the old cooks that maybe have 50 years experience and make excellent chewy noodles and tasty soup. Are you in Asia or USA? If you live in USA suggest to look for Chinese, Taiwan or Japanese neighborhood, most have fresh noodle shops and good stuff like Tea Pickled Egg.

Your clear soup looks good, if it Japanese Bonito broth? Great stuff.

In the USA, the general rule is that a red package means beef flavor, yellow means chicken flavor, etc. When I flew to China on a Chinese airline and the stewardess offered us ramen, I chose the "red" flavor. The cup was all in Chinese, which I couldn't understand, but I quickly discovered that to them, a red package apparently means "so spicy it will burn a hole in your stomach." That was some of the "hottest" food I've ever eaten but also some of the best.

Yes! In China red package always means speicy chilli and the hotter it is, the more I love it. See my comment up-there, maybe my dream is your nightmare! But in our house every meal with chilli so my tolerence must be higher than the average American, but honestly the hottest soupd I ever ate was in Thailand full of tiny chopped green chillis, I was sweating like drazy and drank 2 beers to stop the fire. Great stuff. Thai are champion chill eaters.

If there is one thing that I learned form medicinal-herbs class, it's this: All food (especially herbs) is either a medicine or a poison. What determines its status is its use and its dosage.

Even the all-praised heart-healthy herb/food garlic can kill you in one of the worst ways possible... if you use it incorrectly and/or eat it too much.

The inverse also works with the most potent of poisons.

So, in the light of that, I think that ramen is harmless enough for me... if used correctly.

I've always wondered how the hell so many Asians can eat it and still stay slimmer than Americans.

Fun
